5 ways to travel in alignment & your free alignment travel guide
Perhaps you're travelling with your family soon and want to enhance your experience so you can be more present, aligned and in flow. I’ve collated some guidance so you can continue to thrive.
Bringing your healthy habits and spiritual practices on the road (or in the air) does not just happen by itself. It’s likely it will take some intention and preparation. I have created the ‘Travel in Alignment Guide’ to help you stay balanced.
I have travelled all over the world the last 10 years and refined my travel practices so I can stay healthy, optimised and connected to myself which I am sharing this with you at the bottom of this blog.
I had this amazing insight in the airport in Vienna on my way to Greece. I didn’t know my gate but I stayed very present in the moment seeing where I was being guided.
The first feeling was to find a bathroom, even though I didn’t have an urge to go right away. The first bathroom I passed was closed. Hmm, okay. On to the next.
On my way to the next bathroom I passed this amazing juice bar with smoothie bowls. Perfect, I’ll go there after, I thought to myself. The line to the bathrooms was long.
My inner guidance to find a bathroom before I needed it was wise and had the first bathroom not been closed, I would not have seen the juice bar.
It’s in the small things where the magic is.
After picking up my smoothie bowl and juice I looked for a quieter space. Next to the juice bar had a playground area, with kids running around. This would have been perfect if I’d had my daughter with me, but I was going for something a bit more peaceful.
I found a gate with plenty of empty seats and as I sat down I looked over to the screen. SANTORINI. My flight was right there.
I was in the right place at the right time, with healthy food finding me and me finding my gate without realising.
To me, this is ALIGNMENT.
This inspired me to share my 5 tips to staying in alignment while travelling. I have created a free eBook which is at the bottom.
My 5 tips for travelling in alignment
Stay hydrated. Your body, your cells and your liver all needs hydration to function optimally. If you’re not hydrated, you’ll put your body under stress and it will show up as a headache or simply not being able to present in your body. Bring a glass or stainless steel bottle with you and fill it up at the airport. Then you don’t have to buy water on the plane and you can stay hydrated even if there is waiting time or delays. Sip water all throughout the day, on the plane and off the plane. If you make sure you have water with you and it's accessible, you will be able to drink it.
Stay grounded. Grounding can mean a lot of things to different people. To me it’s staying really present in my body, and ways to do that can be through a grounding meditation practice, grounding essential oils, breathing or even putting your feet in the sand or on grass. Make sure you pick one of these practices to connect you back to your body before, during and after your travels. I share more tips on this in the eBook!
Find healthy options. Even though you’re on the go or on vacation doesn't mean that there are only unhealthy fast food options available. If you’re not used to thinking like this it might be a big shift for you. But it’s actually quite simple and most airports and places have healthier choices. Look up the airport you have a layover in, or the city you’re staying in for healthy food options. If there is a good salad, juice, or smoothie - that is amazing nutrition for the body. And then you can enjoy other foods in addition. Just fill up with some of those good, fresh nutrients, which keeps you high on energy and your digestion running smoothly.
Create space for yourself. If you’re travelling alone it should be simple to have a good morning routine, go for a walk/run, meditate or do a grounding practice. If you’re travelling with others, you might find it more challenging to step away for that time. But the truth is, you’ll be a better mom, partner, friend if you’re in balance. So communicate your needs ahead of time, let them know you’ll need 10 minutes or 1 hr, whatever you feel is needed or possible and take that time for you. Remember when you have a full cup you have more to give to others.
Go easy on yourself by staying present. It doesn't have to be perfect. Be gentle and kind with yourself. Lower the expectations and be in the moment. You are here right now.You are lucky enough to be travelling, exploring somewhere new, maybe with people you love, or somewhere you love. So don’t rush to the next thing or to see ALL the things. The best moments are in the now, the small things. The sunset. The slow morning. The sounds. The smells. Your child playing. A hug. So go easy on yourself now. Lower the bar and you’ll have the best travel experience ever! Life can surprise you if you loosen the grip a little.
Bonus tip:
If shit hits the fan and your travel plans go bust (for example a delay or missed flight) look for the deeper meaning. There is always beauty in it. Often it's easier to see it later, but if you trust that and go with the flow instead of fighting, the world becomes a more beautiful place to be in.
I wish you the most beautiful, aligned and balanced trip.
Now, if you want my Travel in Alignment Guide you’re in the right place.
The idea for this guide was created by the pool on an island in Greece.
This has been inspired by all the ways that I stay in balance and travel healthily with essential oils and my energetic practices. It’s become an essential part of my life when travelling and I continue to bring more healthy habits and spiritual practices on the road with me.
These ideas have become a beautiful guide and an eBook which I hope you will love.
